What is "CORE" fitness?

The core is a group of muscles that stabilize and control the pelvis and spine. Core strength is about being able to maintain the body in ideal postures — to unload stress on joints and promote ease of movement. For athletes, it promotes more efficient movement, therefore preventing injury, boosting resiliency, and improving performance. Daily practice of core engagement can lead to healthier movement patterns that allow for increased mobility and independence throughout the course of our lives. What if your “core” is weak? As we age, we experience degenerative changes, very often in the spine. Our bones and cartilage are subject to wear & tear. Having a weak imbalanced core can exacerbate issues such as instability, balance & gait leaving one more vulnerable to falling. Carole will design a core strengthening program for you! She applies her extensive knowledge and experience to each client's needs to improve their core strength, and learn to identify and activate muscles. She offers clients aquatic & land fitness programs, personal or group training.
